They’re connected in so many real and human ways - their fears, their dreams, their self-perceptions, their insecurities… even if they weren’t tangled up in each others’ personal lives through boyfriends and Shelby, they’re inextricably tied through the show’s purposeful construction of them as foils who tick for the same things, but at different rhythms and with opposite attitudes.
